P7 Transitional

Confident Transition

The transition from any stage of education into another is among the most important and key influential processes in the life of any child.

Our Transitional (P7) year is unique to Morrison’s, allowing children to make a smooth and confident transition into our Secondary School with a programme designed to develop the skills they will need.

Specialist Subjects

Throughout Primary School our pupils are taught their specialist subjects by our Secondary School teachers, whilst remaining with their Primary School teachers for core subjects of Literacy and Numeracy.

By the time they reach Transitional, pupils spend approximately 50% of their time in the Secondary School. They are more independent and accustomed to following a secondary style timetable whilst having the ability to organise and take responsibility for themselves and others.

Transitional pupils are challenged and stretched when they visit our well equipped Science laboratories with our specialist Science teachers. They have the opportunity to develop new creative skills during Art and Design classes in the Art Studios or other subjects that they will regularly partake in when visiting the Senior School, including Drama, French, Geography, History, Home Economics, Music, PE and STEM.

Without doubt, pupils who complete the Transitional year at Morrison’s Academy move to S1, the next step in their educational experience, with increased confidence and ease, and a self-assurance that allows them not to be anxious or nervous, but to simply be excited about their journey ahead.
