S5 Pupil Earns Place in National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland
Congratulations to S5 pupil Elsie, who has secured a place in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland (NYJOS), marking another significant milestone in her impressive musical journey.
Elsie first discovered her passion for music at the age of eight, beginning with the acoustic guitar before taking up bass guitar in S3. After applying to the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland, she was invited to audition and initially performed with the charity’s training band before quickly progressing to the main orchestra – an outstanding achievement that reflects her talent, commitment and hard work.
Alongside her musical success, Elsie continues to excel academically. Next academic year, she will study Advanced Higher Music alongside Higher Music Technology, Higher Physics and Advanced Higher Mathematics, providing a strong foundation for her future aspirations in music and sound recording.
Elsie has also recently achieved Grade 8 Acoustic Guitar and is currently working towards her Gold Music Leadership Award. As part of this award, she regularly coaches and mentors young musicians, sharing her skills and enthusiasm while inspiring the next generation of performers.
Everyone at Morrison’s Academy is incredibly proud of Elsie’s achievements and we look forward to following her continued success in the years ahead.
