Fostering a Sense of Belonging – Become a Morrisonian

At Morrison’s Academy, we understand the importance of fostering a sense of belonging within our school community. We believe that creating a supportive and inclusive environment is essential for the overall wellbeing and success of our pupils.

Building Strong Bonds
Morrisonians develop strong bonds with each other, with friendships and memories made at Morrison’s Academy lasting a lifetime.
Exam results matter, but many of the most important things in education cannot be measured. We strongly believe in encouraging our pupils to participate. With over 90 co-curricular activities and clubs available to our Primary and Secondary pupils, they are spoilt for choice. Our pupils throw themselves into school life and take full advantage of all that is on offer. Morrisonians from different year groups can be a part of the same team, club, cast or band.  Taking part in clubs allows our pupils to meet others with similar interests and in other year groups. These friendships are nurtured through collaboration, teamwork, and mutual respect.

Formational Experiences
We understand the significance of the time children and teenagers spend at school in shaping their values and beliefs. That is why we strive to create a positive environment where pupils feel valued, respected, and supported. As a school, we model our values of caring and connected, curious, creative, committed and confident. We believe that by promoting these values, we can create a community where everyone feels accepted and valued.

Creating a Supportive Environment
Morrison’s Academy is more than just a school – it is a community. We value the relationships between pupils, staff, and families, creating a welcoming, vibrant, and friendly atmosphere where everyone can feel a sense of belonging and purpose.
In order to foster a sense of belonging, we have implemented various initiatives to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all. Morrison’s Academy families are part of a welcoming, vibrant and friendly community. Saturday morning bacon rolls while watching hockey and rugby, Parents’ Association events, ceilidhs, Christmas markets and summer balls, cycling groups, tennis training, parent and child hockey nights, family pitch and putt sessions and more makes Morrison’s Academy truly a school for all the family.

Being a part of the Morrisonian Family
Every Morrisonian when they join the school becomes part of one of four school houses. They cheer on their house at Sports Day, enjoy the friendly rivalry when collecting house points in Primary and vie for the end of term School House Cup. Being part of the same school house from Primary one to S6 really encourages a sense of belonging and a feeling of pride in their house.
There is no doubt that our young people, when they leave school, understand the privilege of their education and feel a sense of pride that they are part of the Morrison’s Academy family.

Become a Morrisonian
Ultimately, we aim to provide our pupils with a sense of purpose and belonging that will stay with them long after they have left Morrison’s Academy. We believe that fostering a strong sense of belonging  will help our pupils to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
