Sports Celebration Evening Showcases Pupil Success

On Tuesday 16 June we celebrated an outstanding year of sport at Morrison’s Academy.

From tennis, cricket, athletics, hockey, rugby, golf, football and equestrian to name just a few, it was an opportunity to reflect on the incredible achievements of our pupils and the continued growth of our sporting programme.

From Primary 1 to S6, our Outdoor Education programme continues to thrive, offering a huge range of activities including bushcraft, climbing, kayaking, mountaineering and mountain biking.

We celebrated the strength of our outreach and community partnerships.  Hosting primary and U18 hockey and rugby 7s tournaments, our annual golf tournament, Strathearn Schools’ Climbing Competition and SSMBC continue to be the highlights of the sporting calendar.  Strong partnerships with local clubs such as Crieff and Strathearn RFC, Crieff Tennis Club and Comrie Cricket Club have created even more opportunities for pupils to enjoy, explore and excel in competitive sport.

The evening also recognised the remarkable achievements of our pupils who continue to shine on national and international stages.  International caps were presented to Morven (sailing), Oli (tennis), Lucy (golf) and Rowan (rugby).  We were especially proud to celebrate the success of five of our S6 pupils who have achieved exceptional results in their chosen sports whilst balancing their academic commitments.  Well done to Libby (Dundee United FC), Oli (Scottish tennis), Jack (St Johnstone FC), Camerin (Scottish golf) and Rowan (Scottish rugby).

Finally we paid tribute to Mike Blackie, who stepped down after 12 years as the U18 rugby head coach.  His dedication, commitment and contribution to Morrison’s Academy’s rugby programme have left a lasting legacy and we thank him sincerely for all he has done for our pupils and teams.
