Event

Get ready for an unforgettable day of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths at Morrison’s Academy, Perthshire’s leading independent day school, as it hosts SmartSTEMs 2025 on Saturday 10th May. This year promises to be bigger, bolder and even more exciting than ever before.

Run in partnership with the Glasgow-based charity SmartSTEMs, the free event invites young minds aged 10-14, and their families, to dive into a hands-on experience of all things STEM. Packed with interactive workshops, inspiring speakers, a STEM careers showcase, and a pot of prizes, SmartSTEMS is the perfect opportunity to spark a lifelong passion for STEM. This year we’re excited to introduce STEMSpark, a new networking arena that’s guaranteed to ignite creativity and connection among young visitors.

Founded with the mission of making STEM education accessible and engaging, SmartSTEMs brings together industry leaders and educators to inspire the next generation. By collaborating with schools across the country, they ensure every child has the chance to explore the incredible opportunities STEM careers have to offer.

So what’s on the agenda?

Prepare to be impressed as experts from the world of STEM join specialist teachers from Morrison’s Academy to deliver action-packed workshops and exhibitions. Get up close with the wonders of science, technology, and engineering, with sessions led by top organisations like:

• Tayside Planetarium
• The Army
• Aerospace giant Leonardo
• Pharmaceutical leader, GSK
• The CODE Show
• The University of Glasgow
• SSEN Distribution
• University of Dundee

Our inspiring speakers will set the tone and bring the event to life. Kicking off the day is former Morrison’s Academy pupil, Caitlin Edgar, who’ll share her journey into paediatric prosthetics at Imperial College London. Wrapping up the day is Youtube sensation, Stuart Naismith (STEM with Mr N) who’ll inspire with his unusual career path into STEM. And don’t miss out on the amazing STEM goodies we’ll be handing out at the prize giving ceremony, courtesy of our generous sponsor, Drysdale Brothers (Larbert) Ltd.
